I&IT Organization

The Information and Information Technology (I&IT) Organization was set up to implement the Ontario government's new integrated approach to information and information technology. It is made up of the Office of the Corporate Chief Information Officer and nine I&IT business clusters.

This structure is a major departure from the government's traditional approach of organizing I&IT activities by ministry. It is designed to strengthen links between I&IT and the government's business directions, and to enhance leadership and coordination at the corporate level and through the line. It also redefines the scope of government-wide and ministry I&IT functions.

The Office of the Corporate Chief Information Officer provides corporate leadership for information and information technology (I&IT) in the Ontario government.

The Office of the Corporate Chief Information Officer includes:

Corporate Security Branch
Information, Privacy, and Archives Division
Infrastructure Technology Services
Innovation, Controllership and Strategy Division

Corporate Security Branch

Protects and secures the government’s information and information technology infrastructure

Information, Privacy, and Archives Division

Promotes excellence in information management including planning, policy and standards development
Supports the Minister on legislation related to public sector access to information and protection of privacy, and the Archives of Ontario
Within the IPA, the Archives of Ontario acquires, preserves and makes publicly accessible original records of enduring value relating to Ontario, and manages the Government of Ontario Art Collection

Infrastructure Technology Services

Manages and delivers I&IT common infrastructure and telecommunications products and services
Support mission and business critical applications across the Ontario Public Service

Innovation, Controllership and Strategy Division

Develops enterprise-wide strategies, policies and standards
Provides IT architecture planning, enhanced quality assurance (QA) processes, technology planning and adoption and management
Ensures specifications of critical I&IT standards are developed in an integrated manner
Provides leadership in I&IT performance measurement, communications, learning and development, and events and partnerships

The Office of the Corporate Chief Information Officer works with nine clusters to ensure that I&IT:

advances the government's business vision
supports flexible, responsive, innovative public service
enables the Ontario government to do business differently
helps make Ontario the best place to live, work and do business.
